Just where did a hybrid car get it’s start? Read on to find out. Hybrid cars are very popular to today’s car buyers and there are many reasons why that should be. But before you even think about choosing a hybrid vehicle to purchase, you might want to know a little bit about the history of the hybrid first.
It is surprising, but hybrid cars were invented even before gas-powered cars. In or about the year 1665, a Jesuit priest by the name of Ferdinand Verbeist began making plans for a new type of vehicle. That vehicle or cart would be very simple, nothing complex. Dead simple was all he was interested in.
So Ferdinand planned out a car that would have four wheels and would run only on steam. It took about fifteen years of work for Ferdinand to go through with his plan. He laboured to perfect his dream car. But no one knows if he ever finished because there is no evidence that his concept ever came into existence.
Then in 1769, a man by the name of Nicholas Cugnot designed and developed a carriage that was powered by steam. This vehicle really did go and it went at six miles per hour. This project was great, but it was difficult to get the amount of steam needed to make the car to go any significant distance.
The real break through in hybrid car development finally came in 1839 when Robert Anderson developed an electrically powered car. It was the first of its kind and was built in Scotland.
This electric car was a highly applauded innovation of its time. However, the only problem was that it was very difficult to recharge the car’s battery. Some pioneers came after Anderson, but they too had a hard time getting the battery recharged easily.
Eventually, in the year 1898, Porsche developed an electric and fuel combination combustion engine that was the first of its type. The car was called the Lohner Electric Chaise and it could travel for up to 40 miles just using its batteries.
Within a short space of time, pioneers combined both gas and a battery powered engines to power what would become today’s hybrid car. In 1999, Honda made a leap into the US market. It came out with the Honda Insight, which was a lightweight two-door hybrid. Since then, hybrid cars have been evolving and improving into what we see on the market these days. Hybrid cars are no longer just for the techies who think it’s nice to combine battery and fuel power to get them where they need to go. Hybrid cars started out simple, and they are still quite simple today.
These days hybrid cars are becoming more and more popular as people understand them better. In the 21st century, hybrids saw a boom in sales when the Toyota Prius came out on the market. It was the first hybrid with four doors that was marketed for the USA.
Then, Ford’s Escape hybrid became the very first SUV hybrid ever made. So there, you have it, the history of the hybrid vehicle, today’s modern car.

Astronomy is a very exact branch of science, although many people become interested in it when they are very young. Astronomy is inspiring pursuit that can teach children about the other sciences in general. Some astronomical subjects inspire kids and movies like Star Wars and they serve to increase this attraction.
The Earth’s closest neighbour is the moon. Its path around the Earth takes a little over twenty-seven days to complete. Mankind has only ever set foot on the Earth and the moon. The gravity between the moon and Earth is responsible for the tides. Its brightness in the night sky encourages many children to want to learn more about it and the subject of astronomy in general.
Let’s move on to the sun. Earth is quite far from the sun, although the distance actually fluctuates between about 91 million miles and about 94 million miles. The reason for this variance is because of Earth’s elliptical orbit. Life on Earth is only possible because of the sun, which is our source of important elements such as light and heat. A little-known fact is that the sun contains about 98% of the mass of the whole solar system! Just think about how small a person is compared to that.
The Earth is in the galaxy called the Milky Way. Like all other galaxies, it’s a very large collection of gas, dust, stars and planets. Most of the area in a galaxy is filled with nothing, just empty space. In other words, most of its volume, 3,000 light years high by 100,000 light years diameter, the size of our galaxy, is empty.
Our Earth is located somewhere in the vicinity of 30,000 light years from the central core of our galaxy. The nothingness is broken up by over 100 billion stars. In fact, the galaxy was named for the thick group of stars in the main portion of it.
It looks just like a pool of liquid, which is why it was given the name Milky Way. There are four types of galaxies: elliptical, lenticular, irregular and, like the Milky Way, spiral.
There is a lot of information about astronomy on the Internet that is fit for children: from dictionaries and encyclopaedic references to programs that show the paths of the different planets, solar systems and objects right on the computer’s monitor! In deed, there’s more information than a child could ever get through.

The species of snake called the spitting cobra is very unusual as it not only has a poisonous bite but it also spits venom into the eyes of its prey and aggressors. Contact of this venom with your eyes is very painful and can even blind you temporarily, therefore, if you get cobra venom in your eyes, irrigate them with water at once in order to prevent permanent tissue damage.

The King Cobra, Ophiophagus hannah, also distinguishes itself in this large family of snakes (elapids) by the fact that it feeds almost entirely on other snakes with mice and small birds also falling prey to its venom.
The King Cobra is also unique because of its size – it can reach 5.85m (almost 20 feet) in length, which makes it the longest poisonous snake in the world. The latest discovery of a new species of cobra was made in 2003 when it was identified by London Zoo as part of an illegal shipment of exotic pets.
According to DNA studies this new species of snake is similar to the red spitting cobra but different in terms of genes. It appears to have originated in an area between Sudan and Egypt, and it was given the name of the ‘Nubian Spitting Cobra’.
Though highly dangerous when it senses a threat, a cobra will not attack if you leave it in peace, although the venomous spit can travel very accurately for two meters. If compared to the strike of a rattlesnake, the cobra is pretty slow in attack, and many bites prove blank, that is without envenomation.
A study conducted on Malaysian cobra snake victims indicates that only 55% of the wounds involved venom release and the same statistics indicate a mortality rate of 10% for people bitten, since the toxins injected into the blood of the prey devastate the nerves (neurotoxin) inducing respiratory failure half an hour after being bitten, giving you 30 minutes to seek an antidote.
The colouration is variable from light green-grey to black, while juveniles are yellow and black banded. This snake can find a habitat all over south-eastern Asia.

Besides physical appearance, weight affects a person in various ways. It could be the overall standard of life, self-esteem, depression, health problems, or physical incapacities. There are a lot of advantages to weight loss, which is why lots of people are searching for a weight loss program that will trim down those excess kilos and get a great, eye-popping body.
The first thing that an over-weight individual ought to do is seek a doctor to recommend the best weight loss plan. This will be done after a full physical examination, which leads to the determination of a proper weight loss technique. To shed excess pounds fast and effectively, four aspects of your life should be changed: what to eat, how to eat, behavior and activity level.
Here are a few fast recommendations that can change an over-weight persons’s whole life:
1: Rapid weight loss consists of a multi-faceted plan that is made up of mindset, exercise, and, in some cases, diet supplements. Begin by learning a food regimen that can be easily incorporated into your lifestyle. Include an exercise plan that requires at least fifteen minutes a day brisk walking, running, swimming or dancing.
2: Set realistic targets. The ability to focus and have a proper mindset enables someone on a diet to rapidly shed those extra kilos. With discipline and a proper mind set, a dieter will not be discouraged and lose focus.
3: Listen to your body. Every person’s metabolism behaves in a different way to different fast weight loss plans. Substitute one regimen for another to judge the body’s reaction. The exercise program must be suited to your body, because some can not exercise as strenuously as others. If walking is all that you can do, then walk, for this is one of the best exercises. Don’t forget that muscles burn calories, so try to put on a little more muscle – it looks sexy too.
4: Eat more fibre because it makes you feel fuller sooner and takes longer to digest, making it longer before you will be hungry again. For instance, a couple of slices of whole grain bread will remain in the gut longer and put off hunger longer than white bread, which turns in to glucose more quickly. giving you a quick, sugar spike, which soon dissipates, leaving you hungry again.
5: Keep away from fried food especially deep-fried, since it contains a lot of fat. But remember, although fish and chicken appear to be far leaner than beef, these white meats can contain even more fat than beef if it is fried. It is advisable those on a strict diet choose grilled food, since it does not have much fat after the food has been prepared.
6: Take in lots of fluid. Drinking at least six to eight glasses of water a day keeps the body ‘flushing’ and since weight loss depends on how the body gets rid of bodily waste, the body must stay hydrated.
All in all, discipline and consistency is still the best practice and the key to quick weight loss success. Light dieting, workout, and the right amount of supplementation applied in a regular way everyday will result in a quicker weight loss than having a massive action campaign that is only followed by a return to your bad old ways, since this would only lead to adding more weight than before the weight loss plan was started.

As frustrating as it might be, carp fishing is tremendous. Carp are especially good at sucking in and blowing out dubious baits. It’s such an exciting moment to see the whole action in a fraction of a second as you wait with baited breath to see if the fish will accept the bait
Carp gladly feed on the surface of the water so long as you keep the pellets, biscuits, chic peas, bread, and re-hydrated corn coming and these are inexpensive baits as well. Just fix the bait to the hooks: I think bread works the best. First soften the biscuits by dipping them in the water for about 2 minutes, then, put them in a sealed, plastic sandwich bag for about an hour. Since different brands have different textures, you will just have to experiment to discover which sort is stiff enough to cast. An additional way to hook bait is by super gluing the pellet onto the shank of the hook.
Once they start feeding, let them feel at ease around the bait. This provides more opportunity for the angler since they will become less choosy. This tactic can be particularly useful for zig rigs.
As soon as they’re feeding, cast the bait but make sure not to cast the bait directly onto the feeding carp. Cast away from the feeding spot then slowly draw the bait into position. While the bait is still hanging, keep the food coming in so as to keep the carp from leaving.
How to Set-Up Your Rig?
1 Use a hair rig to increase your chance of catching fish. Since carp taste their food first, they won’t feed if they don?t like the taste. 2 You may also use a Spider Line, 50 lbs breaking strain, then use a leader that suits the situation. ? Thread the bait on the baiting needle and hook the hair loop. You might also use foam rubber dipped in a flavor in order to enhance the attractiveness of the bait. 3 You could also make a baiting needle by just straightening a long shank hook. Then slide the bait on the shank, and then slip the bait from the needle onto the hair. 4 Using a float is also an help because it adds weight in order to be able to cast farther, you will also be able to see where the bait is. 5 Don’t forget the controller float rig. A leader can be attached to the swivel on the mainline. It ought to be at least 3 feet in length with a 10lbs Drennan double strength. A low diameter mono will do, just so long as it floats well enough to be seen.
As experts say, it is not the bait that catches carp but the way in which the bait is introduced. Pre-bait everyday, in one spot for a few days. This encourages the carp to think that there is a repeated source of food for them and by ?word of mouth? there?ll soon be a shoal of fish around. Just be patient and it will all work out just dandy.

‘Drive for show, but putt for dough’ is the phrase we’ve all seen and learned from watching professional golfers in every tournament and championship either live or on TV.
The best players of golf can drive a ball from the tee to kingdom-come, but in the end, it all comes down to how many hits of the ball it takes to get that ball in the hole. The long accurate drives don’t mean a thing if you’re unable to putt accurately on the green.
The choice of putter is very important, but knowing how to use that putter consistently, is even more important. For example, I’ve had the same putter for fifteen years, so I know what it feels like in my hand, I know it’s weight and I know how all that plays into my putts.
Putting takes a lot of practice. Typically, we drive the ball eighteen times in a game, but putt at least double that number. So doesn’t it stand that we should practice our putting at least twice as much as driving? If you can’t get to the practice green regularly, just practice on your carpet at home.
Keep in mind that no ball can make it into the hole, if it doesn’t have enough power behind it to get it there. Take the time to get down on the grass and look at the path from your ball to the hole. Does it slant one way or the other? Is it uphill or downhill?
The stance is: stand with your feet spread for balance and line up the putt. Keep you hands, arms and shoulders completely still. Imagine that you are a “bobble head” and that you move from just below the chest. Keep your head directly over the ball; pull your club back; keep your hands, wrists, arms and shoulders steady – the movement comes from your chest; hit the ball, following through with your club.
Try to learn from each putt and remember the lesson. Practice, practice, practice!

Although the terminology “deep sea fishing” seems to refer to marine fishing trips, the term actually applies to any type of fishing in waters wider than a lake. Rivers and ponds can not mean “deep sea fishing” as the water is too shallow in most cases. Open sea fishing is carried out outside coastal waters that is the habitat of lots of the larger fish.
Deep sea game fishing does require a larger boat in order to achieve open sea manoeuvres and store the catch conveniently. Such a boat should have enough room for the crew meant to actually do the fishing and also for the equipment needed in order to catch and store these larger scale fish. It should be the type of boat intended to withstand sea storms and bad weather and to gain easy access to the fishing areas in a fast and safe manner.
The wide range of fish that are caught in deep sea fishing includes marlins, swordfish, sailfish, large tunas and various types of sharks. There are also smaller species of fish captured at the same time with these large ones. However, the former are not part of the plan. These come as by-catch or, if caught intentionally, they are meant to be turned into bait for the larger fishes.
Deep sea game fishing has been carried out in practically the same seas since the time that this occupation became established and later it developed into a business. It is performed in California, Florida, north of New Zealand, in Nova Scotia, Hawaii and so on. In those areas, the advantage the fishermen have is that large fish live close to the coasts and it does not take a long time to get to these places.
Open sea fishing can be done using several techniques of which the first we should mention is trolling. That is a form of angling achieved by dragging a baited line on the bottom of the ocean. The bait is usually squid or some other smaller fish commonly used for bait and it is thrown behind the boat. The stabilizers behind the boat also called outriggers work great at enlarging the area that can be used for catching fish. Another technique is chumming or chunking which requires that large pieces of dead bait fish are thrown overboard so as to attract large predatory fish.
So, as to be expected, deep sea game fishing has reached unparalleled proportions in terms of its extent because of people’s demand for large fish in their kitchen or restaurant. These days, various fish food diets have actually become first-class aids to healthy living and many people are giving up red meat for this lite-fat, white kind.

We’ve all the seen the incredibly long yet accurate drives of Tiger Woods. The ball flies through the air and lands in the middle of the fairway, 300 yards away.
How can you not become jealous as you wonder if you could ever dare to hope to drive like that? It is consoling to know, that long drives are not crucial to the game of golf.
So, we get to the ’short game’ because without decent short game skills, all those great long drives are not worth a candle.
We call the ’short game’ those shots that get you onto the green from roughly a hundred feet away from the hole, no matter whether it’s from the fairway, a bunker, the rough or a drop zone. It includes all chips, sand shots and pitches.
In this middle stage of the game, you use the higher numbered clubs, your pitching iron and sand wedge or lob wedge more often.
Most golf courses have practice areas as well as a driving range. You should spend some time working on hitting the ball onto the green from different distances. Aim for a ten-foot circle in the center of the green at first. Experiment using your wedges, but what works for someone else, might not work for you and your particular swing.
After you get accustomed to performing this drill consistently, it’s time to start practising in a sand trap. Knowing how to get the ball out of a trap will cut your score dramatically.
The way to get out of a bunker is to place your feet firmly in the sand with your left foot turned to point towards the hole. Draw an imaginary 4-inch circle around the ball and try to hit the outer edge of that circle with a short, sharp chip.
Kick up lots of sand with the ball and swing completely through as normal. Don’t slow down the swing at all when or after you hit the ball. It should jump up onto the green and stop almost dead. This doesn’t work very well though unless the sand is soft and dry. On hard, compacted surfaces, you might need to avoid actually hitting the sand all together.
However, as in all aspects of the game of golf, only practice will help you to improve your score.

For most people astronomy is an interesting science filled with loads of astronomy fun facts. Everything from the size and temperature of our own star, the Sun, to the makeup of distant planets has been established. All of this information can be retold to entertain and enlighten people.
The Sun is a fantastic source of astronomy fun facts. Our own star, which supplies us with all our heat and light is between 91 and 94.5 million miles from Earth. It’s not that nobody knows the exact distance. It’s because the Earth orbits the Sun in an elliptical, uneven, orbit, so the distance varies depending on where the Earth lies in that orbit.
The Sun is only an average size star, yet it’s size is another terrific source of astronomy fun facts. As normal as it is, it accounts for about 98% of all the material in our solar system. Even with the massive planet of Jupiter on our side, we’re still only a small 2% of non Sun stuff.
It would take the diameter of about 100 Earths to stretch across this average Sun. The solar winds created by the Sun extends to about 50 times the distance from the Earth to the Sun. Or put another way, those solar winds reach out about 50 AU’s, with an AU being the distance from the Earth to the Sun. That’s quite fantastic, isn’t it?.
How about astronomy fun facts that don’t have much to do with the Sun then? How about our Moon? It’s the only non-Earth object that man has walked on until now. And one man actually travelled to the Moon but never left it. Dr. Eugene Shoemaker really liked the Moon but was rejected as an astronaut. After his death, he was cremated and his ashes were sprinkled over the Moon by the Lunar Prospector spacecraft in 1999.
There are many more astronomy fun facts about the Moon. It’s the site of what may become the oldest footprint known to man. Neil Armstrong’s giant leap for mankind left a print in the Moon dust that will probably still be there in 10 million years time.
Many people, in fact about 13% of those polled in 1988, still believed the Moon is made of cheese. And finally, the suits worn by the Moon-walking astronauts weighed 180 pounds on Earth but only 30 pounds on the Moon, because of the Moon’s reduced gravity. Talk about losing weight, eh?
Astronomy fun facts aren’t limited to our close astronomical neighbours. Looking at stars is like looking into the past. Some of the stars we see today in the night sky are so far away that their light takes a million years to reach Earth. Some of the stars you see may really be images of stars a million years old that aren’t even there any more. There are more than 1 x 10 ^22 stars in the universe. That’s a 1 followed by 22 zeros. The number is really quite awesome.
There are millions of astronomy fun facts and we could go on about them forever. But unfortunately, this article can not. So, please, just get out there and learn more about astronomy for yourself.

You really need to get rid of heart worm, fleas and other parasites in dogs whenever it becomes obvious that your dog is infected by using the appropriate medication against them. Loads of medications are available to defend our dogs from heart worms, fleas and other parasites such as hook worms, whip worms, round worms, lice, ticks etc.
Of the heart worms, fleas and other parasites, fleas can produce a super-sensitive reaction in the infected dog. Animals infested with fleas scratch their bodies very vigorously. Frequently the scratching becomes so severe that the skin becomes super-sensitive and dermatitis is the result in the scratched areas of skin.
The result is often that your dog can not lie down for long or sleep comfortably due to the constant bites by the fleas. Therefore, your dog looks as if has some severe skin issues. If the your dog is not properly attended to for these flea bites, there will often be secondary bacterial invasions in these areas and there may even be a rotten smell emanating from your dog’s affected skin.
You need to inspect your pet closely in order prevent a serious outbreak. It is essential to prevent such an outbreak as they are extremely distressing to dogs. Similarly, the skin of the animal needs to be checked regularly for the presence of ticks and lice. In order to do this properly, you need to look at the dog’s skin by separating the dog’s hairs. The easiest way to achieve this is by slowly back-combing or ruffling the dog’s hair.
Often, if your pet is anaemic, and he is not infested with fleas, you need to rule out hookworm. Symptoms of hookworm are anaemia, loose stools and a pot belly. The dog’s owner may recognize these symptoms themselves, however, to be honest, the dog needs to undergo a routine health examination at the vet’s involving faecal and hematological examinations.
There are many commercial products on the market. Some of which are useful for dealing with all these conditions by a single dose. Drugs like ivermectin are highly effective and are available in injection, oral and solution forms. The latter should be applied directly to the skin. These drugs can lead to the prevention of these conditions too.
So, the best strategy to follow is to keep a keen eye on your dog. This could easily be carried out at bath time or / and when you are grooming him. You can use an anti-flea and anti-tick shampoo, which will keep these pests under control, if used regularly. Couple this with a regular grooming with a lice comb and a flea collar should keep your pet lice, tick and flea free.
