Astronomy is the study of the universe. It is a serious science, but also a very pleasurable hobby. Therefore, whenever an astronomy picture of the day is offered to people, they usually accept it. There are plenty of such pictures to choose from, and plenty of interesting objects out there to keep people looking.
Of course ,NASA is one of the primary sources for an astronomy picture of the day. This site, NASA.gov, shows a new photo each and every day. There is also a section that shows videos. These could be used to create your own photo site. For example, Saturn’s moon Enceladus was the feature with “star billing” on November 5, 2008.
This image was taken by a passing rocket. It can reproduce details the size of a bus. The ice on this moon reflects as glare, nearly 100% of all the sun light that strikes it. So you would need to wear sunglasses! This moon is so fascinating that Cassini will continue to fly by for more pictures later on in its mission.
NASA maintains an archive of all the astronomy footage of the day dating all the way back to June 16 of’95. It was a ‘what if’ picture of the Earth posing as a neutron star. The image is a computer generation. The most interesting feature is that the constellation Orion is visible twice. Even light from behind a neutron star is visible because the dense star bends the light all the way around it. This causes some double vision.
September 8,’95 was an amazing picture of the central part of the Milky Way galaxy taken by NASA’s COBE satellite. This area is normally invisible because of the dust obscuring it. But COBE scans in infrared, so produced that fantastic image of our very symmetrical galaxy.
The astronomy picture of the day was the same on January 1st, 2000 and January 1st, 2001. The explanation why both dates shared this photo is that most people considered the year 2000 as the first year of the third millennium.
However, the third millennium actually commenced on January 1st, 2001. NASA reasoned it was just better to just go with the flow and do it on both dates. apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap010101.html depicts mankind’s view of the universe as it progressed from mere objects circling the Earth, all the way to the ‘Big Bang’ creating the universe as we see it today.
NASA has a lot more days with their own astronomy picture of the day. Visit the web site, NASA.gov to see them.

As frustrating as it might be, carp fishing is tremendous. Carp are especially good at sucking in and blowing out dubious baits. It’s such an exciting moment to see the whole action in a fraction of a second as you wait with baited breath to see if the fish will accept the bait
Carp gladly feed on the surface of the water so long as you keep the pellets, biscuits, chic peas, bread, and re-hydrated corn coming and these are inexpensive baits as well. Just fix the bait to the hooks: I think bread works the best. First soften the biscuits by dipping them in the water for about 2 minutes, then, put them in a sealed, plastic sandwich bag for about an hour. Since different brands have different textures, you will just have to experiment to discover which sort is stiff enough to cast. An additional way to hook bait is by super gluing the pellet onto the shank of the hook.
Once they start feeding, let them feel at ease around the bait. This provides more opportunity for the angler since they will become less choosy. This tactic can be particularly useful for zig rigs.
As soon as they’re feeding, cast the bait but make sure not to cast the bait directly onto the feeding carp. Cast away from the feeding spot then slowly draw the bait into position. While the bait is still hanging, keep the food coming in so as to keep the carp from leaving.
How to Set-Up Your Rig?
1 Use a hair rig to increase your chance of catching fish. Since carp taste their food first, they won’t feed if they don?t like the taste. 2 You may also use a Spider Line, 50 lbs breaking strain, then use a leader that suits the situation. ? Thread the bait on the baiting needle and hook the hair loop. You might also use foam rubber dipped in a flavor in order to enhance the attractiveness of the bait. 3 You could also make a baiting needle by just straightening a long shank hook. Then slide the bait on the shank, and then slip the bait from the needle onto the hair. 4 Using a float is also an help because it adds weight in order to be able to cast farther, you will also be able to see where the bait is. 5 Don’t forget the controller float rig. A leader can be attached to the swivel on the mainline. It ought to be at least 3 feet in length with a 10lbs Drennan double strength. A low diameter mono will do, just so long as it floats well enough to be seen.
As experts say, it is not the bait that catches carp but the way in which the bait is introduced. Pre-bait everyday, in one spot for a few days. This encourages the carp to think that there is a repeated source of food for them and by ?word of mouth? there?ll soon be a shoal of fish around. Just be patient and it will all work out just dandy.

‘Drive for show, but putt for dough’ is the phrase we’ve all seen and learned from watching professional golfers in every tournament and championship either live or on TV.
The best players of golf can drive a ball from the tee to kingdom-come, but in the end, it all comes down to how many hits of the ball it takes to get that ball in the hole. The long accurate drives don’t mean a thing if you’re unable to putt accurately on the green.
The choice of putter is very important, but knowing how to use that putter consistently, is even more important. For example, I’ve had the same putter for fifteen years, so I know what it feels like in my hand, I know it’s weight and I know how all that plays into my putts.
Putting takes a lot of practice. Typically, we drive the ball eighteen times in a game, but putt at least double that number. So doesn’t it stand that we should practice our putting at least twice as much as driving? If you can’t get to the practice green regularly, just practice on your carpet at home.
Keep in mind that no ball can make it into the hole, if it doesn’t have enough power behind it to get it there. Take the time to get down on the grass and look at the path from your ball to the hole. Does it slant one way or the other? Is it uphill or downhill?
The stance is: stand with your feet spread for balance and line up the putt. Keep you hands, arms and shoulders completely still. Imagine that you are a “bobble head” and that you move from just below the chest. Keep your head directly over the ball; pull your club back; keep your hands, wrists, arms and shoulders steady – the movement comes from your chest; hit the ball, following through with your club.
Try to learn from each putt and remember the lesson. Practice, practice, practice!

There are many arm moves in wrestling, the most well-known of which are the arm drags, arm swings, arm breakers and over the shoulder arm drags. Another wrestling arm manoeuvre is the arm bar take down. The arm bar works by forcing the opponent’s arm downwards.
The attacked person feels the strain around the shoulder area and the assailant will grip the arms extending them lengthwise. The shoulder is eventually forced to the mat. This results in a pin in most cases unless the wrestler can wriggle his/her way out of the hold.
The arm breakers include slamming of the arms, typically on an area of the opponent’s body where it will hurt. Usually the pin ends with the scissors, where the wrestler’s legs are crossed over the challengers body, holding his/her shoulders down to the mat.
The various moves look painful in the ring, but the fact is that the moves are fakes, i.e. a showy display to grab attention. The actors rehearse the scenes long before they step into the ring and are trained to send ’signs’ to end the bout when they want to.
The wrestling holds and slams seem serious on television, simply because the cameras and other distractions divert the attention of the audience. Wrestling is similar to how magicians work. Magicians rehearse their acts before they go on stage. There is always a gimmick or explanation, yet the magician does his act so smoothly and the audience is so distracted, that the magician makes people believe he/she is the real thing.
The ‘arm drags’ involve the assailant getting the opponent in a hook move and then flipping the challenger down onto the mats. Most of the moves are devised by one or the other of the wrestlers and sometimes it may become a popular move and so taken up by others. Two of the older moves are the Gallatin and the Banana Split
The ‘over the shoulder’ move should be called the body slam since the opponent will throw the challenger over his shoulder, slamming him/her onto the mat. At one time, this wrestling move was probably a slammer, but today it is the shoulder-arm throw move.
The ‘wringer; is another of the arm moves in wrestling which is sometimes called the ’spin wrist lock hold’. This move is often followed by the Irish Thrash moves, mallet locks or gouges.
Some other arm moves include the arm stretches, arm breakers, arm wringer, arm locks, arm bar and arm scissors. While the arm moves are famous in the ring, there are many moves you may see today that you would never have seen when wrestling first had its beginning in ancient times. The Amityville Horror is one of wrestling’s more modern moves. Although, I haven’t figured out what this move is all about, we shall analyse it together.
Right now, from what I see the Amityville Horror is just a ploy to lead people into renting or buying the movie. As for the moves, I did see it listed in the list of wrestling moves; however, as for now no information is available to learn what this move entails. The moves are basically brands from the wrestlers, therefore what I’m assuming is that the wrestler felt he had acted out one of the most horrific moves in wrestling, so he named it the Amityville.
Why is it that some moves get roaring applause? Well, it can start when a wrestler in the ring introduces a new manoeuvre and it becomes his trademark, popular final move in his bouts.

We’ve all the seen the incredibly long yet accurate drives of Tiger Woods. The ball flies through the air and lands in the middle of the fairway, 300 yards away.
How can you not become jealous as you wonder if you could ever dare to hope to drive like that? It is consoling to know, that long drives are not crucial to the game of golf.
So, we get to the ’short game’ because without decent short game skills, all those great long drives are not worth a candle.
We call the ’short game’ those shots that get you onto the green from roughly a hundred feet away from the hole, no matter whether it’s from the fairway, a bunker, the rough or a drop zone. It includes all chips, sand shots and pitches.
In this middle stage of the game, you use the higher numbered clubs, your pitching iron and sand wedge or lob wedge more often.
Most golf courses have practice areas as well as a driving range. You should spend some time working on hitting the ball onto the green from different distances. Aim for a ten-foot circle in the center of the green at first. Experiment using your wedges, but what works for someone else, might not work for you and your particular swing.
After you get accustomed to performing this drill consistently, it’s time to start practising in a sand trap. Knowing how to get the ball out of a trap will cut your score dramatically.
The way to get out of a bunker is to place your feet firmly in the sand with your left foot turned to point towards the hole. Draw an imaginary 4-inch circle around the ball and try to hit the outer edge of that circle with a short, sharp chip.
Kick up lots of sand with the ball and swing completely through as normal. Don’t slow down the swing at all when or after you hit the ball. It should jump up onto the green and stop almost dead. This doesn’t work very well though unless the sand is soft and dry. On hard, compacted surfaces, you might need to avoid actually hitting the sand all together.
However, as in all aspects of the game of golf, only practice will help you to improve your score.

How many facts are there to be known or learned about all the objects and phenomenon in our entire universe? Just think: there are about 1 x 10 ^22 stars in the universe, that’s 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars; then there are many of those stars that have planets in orbit around them. Then consider the moons that orbit those planets and the comets and asteroids, the galaxies these stars form, the nebulae and black holes and everything else that’s out there. The amount of information and data is really quite mind-boggling. This article definitely will not contain every fact about astronomy, but they are very interesting facts nevertheless.
Let’s take a look at a small subset of astronomy: “the brightest stars as seen from Earth”. That’s discounting the Sun which is about 250,000 times closer than the next nearest star. It’s so bright that when the sky is viewed from the Earth, it washes out all the other stars in the sky during a phenomenon called daylight.
Remember that according to the scale for the magnitudes given, lower numbers are brighter. Our Sun would be about -26.73, while the full moon is -12.6. So, with that in mind, here are the top 5:
#5 is Vega, which is in Lyra, and which means ‘falling eagle’ in Arabic. It’s about 25 light years away from the Earth, with a magnitude of 0.04.
NB: when thinking about this astronomical information, please just bear in mind that the ‘brightest from the Earth’ doesn’t mean ‘largest’ or ‘brightest’. The Sun is not the largest or brightest star in the universe or even the galaxy by any means, but it seems to be so bright to us because we are near to it compared to the other stars.
#4 Rigel Centaurus – a very bright, bluish-white supergiant star in the constellation Orion. It is a binary star, with an average apparent magnitude of 0.12. It’s scientific name is Beta Orionis. ‘Rigel Centaurus’ is Arabic for ‘the foot of the centaur’. It’s about four light years from Earth.
#3 is Arcturus. The translates as ‘guardian of the bear’ from the Greek. This star is about 37 light years away from us. It is situated in the constellation of Bootes, close to The Great Bear. It has a magnitude of 0.00
#2 Canopus. Of these top five, Canopus, the Greek name for the pilot of the vessel Argo made famous in the stories about Jason and the Argonauts, is the brightest. But it’s 313 light years from Earth, so it’s just second on this list as seen from Earth. It has a magnitude of -.62 as seen from this planet.
#1 is Sirius, meaning ’scorching’ in Greek. It’s also called the ‘Dog Star’ because it is the brightest star in the constellation Canis Major (‘The Big Dog’). It’s only 9 light years from Earth. That’s second closest of these top five. But from Earth it has a magnitude of -1.44. That makes it easily the brightest star as seen in the night sky.
These few data don’t even scratch the surface of subject of astronomy but it’s something for you to think about the next time you gaze up into the night sky.
The term ‘Aikido’ is created by the grouping of three characters in the Japanese language. ‘Ai’, which signifies ‘joining’; ‘ki’, which means ’spirit’ and ‘do’, which means ‘way’. These three words actually encapsulate the essence of Aikido as a type of martial art: ‘the joining of the spirit to find the way’. It was only in the period from 1930’s to the 1940’s that the name Aikido was formally accepted as the name of this martial art variety.
Aikido uses methods that do not seriously injure or kill not like different types of martial art. The movements and skills being taught are just intended to divert attention or immobilize attackers. This is perhaps the explanation why most people prefer Aikido, because of its concentration on peace and tranquility as opposed to violence and conflict. In deed, Aikido teacher, Morihei Ueshiba, believes that to have power over hostility without causing any injury is the art of peace.
Ueshiba, who is also called Osensei, which signifies ‘Great Teacher’, formed Aikido from the doctrine of Daito-ryu aiki-jujutsu. He incorporated the methods of the ‘yari’, the spear; the ‘juken’, the bayonet; and the ‘jo’, which is a short quarterstaff. But what ultimately distinguishes Aikido from other types of martial art is the fact that its proponents can strike while empty-handed. Proponents require no arms for their protection.
As a young child, he was greatly into physical fitness and conditioning. This was because of his oath to avenge his father’s attackers. Eventually, his studies and actions brought him to the discipline of the various martial arts. He studied several of them. He even has qualifications for fencing, fighting with spears, etc. He has learned it all. This is perhaps the reason why Aikido is such a disparate and multi-disciplinary form of martial art.
Yet in spite of his skill, he was still discontented. He sensed that there was still something missing. It was then that he turned to the religions. He studied under a spiritual guide, Onisaburo Deguchi of the sect called Omoto-kyo in Ayabe. Deguchi trained him to take care of his psychic development. He then combined his spiritual beliefs and his mastery of the various martial arts and Aikido was formed.
His relationship with this charismatic spiritual leader Deguchi also smoothed the path for his introduction to the elite political and military personnel as a martial artist. Because of this relationship, he was able to found Aikido and even pass on his teachings to students, who have, in turn, created their own methods and movement in Aikido.
Aikido is a blend of the different styles of jujitsu as well as some of the techniques of sword and spear fighting, of which Ueshiba was an expert. To obtain an general picture, Aikido combines the joint locks and throws of jujitsu and the techniques of the body necessary when fighting with swords and spears.
Oriental in origin, it was brought to the West by Minoru Mochizuki when he visited France in 1951. He introduced the Aikido methods to students who were learning judo. In 1952, Tadashi Abe came to France as the official Aikikai Honbu representative. Then in 1953, Kenji Tomiki toured throughout the United States while Koichi Tohei stayed in Hawaii for a full year where he set up a dojo. Aikido then spread its influence in the United Kingdom two years after and in 1965, it reached Germany and Australia. At present, Aikido has centres all over the world.
